PHOTOWALK MASTBOS
When we talk about Breda's backyard, we are talking about Het Mastbos. This royal backyard is one of the oldest coniferous forests in the Netherlands (over 500 years!). It is a super photogenic forest because of the great diversity of trees. Especially in autumn this creates an explosion of colors and we love it! During this photo walk we pass through beautiful avenues, over a plank path and we also encounter some beautiful fens.
Although a photo walk is not a workshop, we also know that many photographers find the forest a difficult subject, so there is plenty of room to ask questions. We can show you how to create peace in your image and what makes a good composition. We recommend that for photographing in the forest you also bring a polarizing filter. If this is new to you, please let us know. Be enchanted by this particularly beautiful forest, hat on, shoes on, tripod and camera in hand and go with the flow! Will we see you there?
DID YOU KNOW
At over 500 years old, this "royal backyard" is one of the oldest coniferous forests in the Netherlands and, after the Wouwse Plantage, the oldest cultivated forest in our country. Count Hendrik III of Nassau had the forest planted in 1515 with seed of Scots pine from Nuremberg in Germany. The Mastbos was a production forest. The wood was used in the rebuilding of Breda Castle, for the Spanish fleet and later for the masts of VOC ships. Now you know where the name comes from! If you like wildlife, this forest is also a nice place because animals like the squirrel, deer, spoonbill, egret and pine marten live here! (No guarantee of encountering them of course).
